Lovely Villa! We had an amazing time! Perfect for a large group and kids! We were in 6 adults and 3 children. The swimming pool is outstanding! The views are spectacular. We did day trips and would come back around 4pm to enjoys the pool and sunset. The road going up to the Villa is a bit steep, but you can get used to it, and relax! It is very spacious, great service (if you would like dinner cooked for you), and great location! Definitely recommended!

The Villa was beautiful and exceeded our expectations. Lucca and Patricia, the villa managers, were knowledgeable, helpful, and thoughtful. We'll be back.

Wir, eine 4-köpfige Familie mit Hund haben 2 wunderschöne Wochen in diesem traumhaften Ferienhaus verbracht. Die Lage ist einfach traumhaft. Für Naturliebhaber und Ruhesuchende genau das richtige. Wer Trubel mag und schnell mal was einkaufen will ist hier falsch. Nach Arezzo ins Einkaufszentrum sind es ca.15 km, und die letzten 5 km zum Haus sind schon etwas abenteuerlich, aber die Unterkunft entschädigt für alles. Vom tollen großen Pool mit ausreichend Liegen und Sonnenschirmen, einer neuen überdachten Terrasse zum draußen sitzen sowie auch im Haus ist alles notwendige da. Die Besitzer sind übrigens super nett und haben uns bei der Ankunft mit Lasagne und einem Obstkorb verwöhnt. Bei unserer Abfahrt streikte meine Batterie vom Auto und Luca, der Besitzer hat alles dafür getan um irgendwo ein Starthilfekabel zu organisieren. Dafür noch einmal "Grazie"
Ich für meinen Teil würde jederzeit wieder kommen.

We, a family of 4 with dog, have spent 2 wonderful weeks in this wonderful house. The location is just fantastic. For nature lovers and quiet seekers just the right thing. If you like hustle and bustle and want to shop something is wrong here. To the shopping center in Arezzo is about 15 km, and the last 5 km to the house are a bit adventurous, but the accommodation compensates for everything. From the great large pool with enough sunbeds and umbrellas, to a new covered terrace to sit outside. In the house is everything necessary. The owners are very nice and have spoiled us on arrival with lasagne and a fruit basket. On our departure, my car battery was low and Luca, the owner, has done everything to organise a start-up cable somewhere. For once again "Grazie". I would come back at any time.

Die Anlage ist insgesamt sehr schön und sehr ruhig gelegen. Die Umgebung ist ebenfalls lanschaftlich sehr schön. Die Räume sind großzügig gestaltet und funktionell mit einigen Akzenten durch historische Möbel, aber leider in Kombination mit billigen Einrichtungsgeständen wie zum Beispiel die Superplastik IKEA Nachtischleuchte, die zudem auf einer selbst gebauten Fußbank positioniert ist, der hier als Nachtisch dienen soll. In der Wohnküche herrscht ein Mix aus allen möglichen, zusammengesuchten Einrichtungsgegenständen und Küchenutensilien. Der Toaster ist ein wahre Herausforderung. Nur AN, AUS oder "Verbrannter Toast". Mit Draht in Heimarbeit die Kunststoffgriffe am Gitter festgemacht, welche mit dem Toastbrot dann von Hand in den Toaster gestackt werden soll. Im Bad sind beide Duschen (Führungsschienen) kaputt gewesen und provisorisch mit Tape geklebt. Eine Waschmaschine ist nicht vorhanden, obwohl in Zmmerbeschreibung erwähnt. Im Bereich des Waschmaschinenanschlusses wäre auch gar kein Platz für eine Waschmaschine gewesen. Dann wäre die Wohnküche schon voll. In der Wohnküche ist dann auch noch ein Bett für die, die zulatzt ins Bett gehen und zuerst wieder aufstehen, positioniert. Der Fernseher ist ein kleiner Monitor. Fernsehen auf dem eigenen Laptop ist besser. Programme in Deutsch gibt es nur eines. Aber wer den Koran auswendig lernen will, der hat von den insgesamt 500 einprogrammierten Sendern mit am Meisten.
Der Kühlschrank war die Krönung. Schimmelüberzug an allen Dichtungen. Ob das extra Geld für die Endreinigung wirklich auch dafür verwendet wird, ist zweifelhaft. Abschließend sei noch erwähnt, dass die Heizungsanlage defekt war und kein warmes Wasser zum Duschen oder Abwaschen verfügbar war. Duschen war nur in der Scheune möglich, wo auch warmes Wasser fürs Abwaschen geholt werden musste.

Gran Burrone has been purpose built for holiday letting until the owner decides to retire there I think. The house is well built with good plunbing and electrics - we didn't test the heating but hot water was available so it can be assumed to work. There is no air conditioning though I doubt it would be needed at that altitude. We didn't use the jaccuzi. The swimming pool was in good repair with a strongly fixed ladder. It was cleaned using a robot twice a week. There is a feature medieval banquet dining hall which is interesting but we didn't disturb it.The rest of the house is decorated and furnished in old traditional style to a high spec . but has satellite TV and WiFi as well.
The views from the grounds and most windows are fantastic. La Rocca was originally a strategic watch tower location covering several valleys. The remains of the castle are close to Gran Burrone.
The garden is well designed and kept with mature plants and bushes and the use of pine trees gives privacy.
La Rocca is a small hamlet with steep narrow lanes between the houses. That means car access is limited and thought should be given to age and fitness of residents. In Gran Burrone's case the car has to be left in a communal park and access continued on foot. This includes hauling of luggage and heavy shopping. Anyone who is seriously overweight or has had a recent illness would not be comfortable, especially in the heat. There are no amenities within walking distance, so transport is essential. I don't intend to paint a bleak picture - we are in our 70's and managed fine, but others may find it difficult if unfit. Paulo the owner and Emma who cleans twice a week, were lovely people and very helpful. All in all a great venue, but if you want to see a mountain view, you need to climb it first!

We had the best time staying at this villa after our friends wedding. The villa was a great size for a big group and we had many happy days lazing around the pool and having BBQ's in the evening. The owners were amazingly helpful - we stayed in contact via Whatsapp for any questions (e.g. supermarket recommendations) and they hosted a pizza party for us on the final night using our pizza oven. Really loved it.

A very cosy and luxurious accomodation and such a warm and helpful welcoming from the owners Paola and Giuseppe. At only 5 minutes driving from San Gimignano and 25 minutes from Volterra. Recommended for families with children thanks to the well-kept garden and swimming pool.
